FAQ

Is the Money in My Account Protected?

Dolly Card4 min read

The short answer

Dolly is not a bank. Dolly Visa® Commercial cards are issued by Celtic Bank, and funds for that account are held at Fifth Third Bank, N.A., Member FDIC. Dolly Mastercard® Commercial cards are issued by Patriot Bank, N.A., Member FDIC. Insurance at an FDIC member bank is about that bank failing. It is not a promise that a charge can be undone, and it does not cover a purchase you meant to make.

Who is who

Dolly is Filmware, the company that runs the card program for productions. Dolly does not hold the deposits and does not issue the card itself.

A Visa commercial card is issued by Celtic Bank, and funds for that account are held at Fifth Third Bank, N.A., Member FDIC. A Mastercard commercial card is issued by Patriot Bank, N.A., Member FDIC, and can be used everywhere Mastercard is accepted. The details that apply to an account are in the Cardholder Agreement.

What bank insurance is about

FDIC insurance, when it applies, protects money held at an insured bank if that bank fails. It is not fraud protection, it is not a dispute you are guaranteed to win, and it does not refund a purchase the crew intended to make.

Whether a particular balance is insured, and for how much, depends on the account and the bank’s rules. Read the Cardholder Agreement for the terms on your account rather than assuming a number from somewhere else.

If the worry is a charge, not the bank

  • A charge nobody made. Contact Dolly immediately at support@dollycard.com or 1 (508) 203-6861 so the card can be turned off. See disputing a charge.
  • A missing refund. Match the posted credit, not a pending one. See refunds that do not match.
  • A card that will not spend. The account may not have available funds yet. See adding money.
