FAQ
Shipping FAQs
The short answer
Dolly ships physical cards from the United States, individually (one card, on a carrier, in an envelope to the cardholder) or in bulk (every card for the same address and recipient name that day, packed in one box, up to 2,000 cards per box). Choose standard, express, or priority. Inside the United States, priority arrives in about 2–3 business days.
Dolly can ship to any country that is not on the restricted list. Search that list below before you order a card for a shoot outside the country.
Individual and bulk
Individual shipping affixes each card to a carrier and mails it in an envelope addressed to the cardholder. This is the right choice for a card going to one crew member.
Bulk shipping groups every card issued to the same address and the same recipient name on the same day into one box. Those cards are not mounted on carriers and do not go out in separate envelopes. A box holds at most 2,000 cards. If an order is larger than a few thousand cards, it is split across boxes, and each box has its own tracking number. The bulk price in the table below is per box, not per card.
When the card leaves, and how you track it
A few rules apply no matter which speed you pick.
- Cards are sent to the printer at 6:00 a.m. UTC the next day. An order placed today is in that next batch.
- Tracking shows up about 24 hours after the card is created, on services that include it. Standard mail does not include tracking.
- Only the United States and Canada can receive a shipment that has no tracking number. Express and priority include tracking and can go farther.
- Shipping charges are billed after the order ships.
Speeds and prices
Cards ship from the United States. You pick a service — standard, express, or priority — and a packaging type — individual or bulk.
Shipments from the United States
| Destination | Service | Estimated arrival | Tracking | Individual | Bulk |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Domestic | Standard (USPS) | 5–8 business days | No | $0.63 | — |
| Domestic | Express | 4–5 business days | Yes | $13 | $27 |
| Domestic | Priority | 2–3 business days | Yes | $27 | $45 |
| International | Standard (Canada only) | 8–12 business days | No | $1.50 | — |
| International | Express | 4–9 business days | Yes | $30 | $50 |
| International | Priority | 3–6 business days | Yes | $40 | $60 |
Domestic standard individual pricing follows the current USPS metered letter rate (currently $0.632) and can change. Canada standard individual pricing follows the current USPS First-Class Mail International rate (currently $1.503) and can change.
USPS arrival times are guidance, not a guarantee. Alaska, Hawaii, and other non-contiguous U.S. destinations can take longer. Where a service includes tracking, use the tracking number for the latest delivery time.
Bulk pricing is per box. Standard service is individual only.
Countries Dolly cannot ship to
Dolly can ship a physical card to any other country. Search to check a destination. Alternate names work too, so Ivory Coast finds Cote d'Ivoire and Burma finds Myanmar.

How to get the address right
Most failed deliveries are an address problem. A few habits prevent a card from coming back.
- Put the business name on the address. For an office, include the company name in address line 1 or line 2, especially when several businesses share a building.
- Include the apartment or unit number whenever the card is going to a residence that has one.
- Include the state, province, or region for Australia, Brazil, Canada, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Japan, Mexico, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States. Brazil, India, Mexico, and Thailand are also on the no-ship list, so this matters for the countries Dolly can ship to: Australia, Canada, Indonesia, Ireland, Japan, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States.
- APO, FPO, and PO Box addresses have to travel by USPS, which means standard service.
- Write Canadian postal codes without a space. Enter M5V 3L9 as M5V3L9.
- Confirm the address can take a delivery before the card is sent to the printer.
Changing or canceling a shipment
You can change the shipping speed and the address after a card is issued, up until it is sent to the printer. Once the printer has it, the shipment is locked.
You can cancel a card at any time. Canceling it makes the card inactive and unusable. If the card was already submitted to the printer, it is still billed and still ships.
Ordering a lot of cards at once
Bulk is how a production sends a stack of cards to one office instead of mailing each one.
- There is no cap on how many cards you can order. A very large order is split across boxes, with at most 2,000 cards in each.
- Same address, same recipient name, same day. Those cards are batched into one bulk shipment.
- Each box gets its own tracking number, added to the card once that box ships.
- The bulk price in the table is per box.
Choose bulk shipping on the card so it joins that day's box for the address, instead of going out on its own.
Frequently asked questions
- How does Dolly ship a physical card?
- Individually or in bulk. An individual card is mounted on a carrier and mailed in an envelope to the cardholder. Bulk groups every card for the same address and recipient name that day into one box of up to 2,000 cards, without individual carriers or envelopes.
- How fast can a physical card arrive?
- Inside the United States, priority is about 2–3 business days, express is about 4–5 business days, and standard USPS is about 5–8 business days. International express is about 4–9 business days and international priority is about 3–6. Cards are sent to the printer at 6:00 a.m. UTC the day after they are created, and USPS estimates are guidance rather than a guarantee.
- Which countries can Dolly not ship a card to?
- Dolly cannot ship physical cards to a fixed list of countries, including Mexico, Brazil, China, India, and Russia. Search the list on this page. If a country is not on it, Dolly can ship there.
- Do all shipments include tracking?
- Express and priority include tracking, available about 24 hours after the card is created. Standard service does not. A shipment without tracking can only go to the United States or Canada.
- Can Dolly ship to a PO Box, APO, or FPO?
- Yes, but only by USPS, which means standard service. Standard service has no tracking.
- Can I change the address after I order the card?
- Yes, until the card is sent to the printer. You can change the address and the shipping speed up to that point. After the printer has the card, the shipment cannot be changed. Canceling a card deactivates it, but a card already at the printer is still billed and still ships.
